Wild World Reptiles offers weekly courier runs of one, two or three days covering different parts
of the country from our base on the South coast.
One day runs typically focus
on the South whereas the three day runs may travel as far as Scotland depending on demand.
We have used couriers and know how worrying it can be so

Fully DEFRA licensed and insured animal courier
DEFRA ( Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs ) is responsible for issuing
authorisations for companies to transport animals in the UK.
The issuing body at DEFRA is called the "Welfare in Transport Team",
their contact details can be found on the license itself.
This team ensure that the company carrying your animals is trained, competent and has
the appropriate vehicles for the job. There are strict rules and documentation
requirements that must be adhered to.
This license is your piece of mind that the courier you select will meet these strict requirements.
At Wild World Reptiles we hold a "Type 2" authorisation which allows us to carry animals
for journeys over 8 hours and enforces comprehensive paperwork, planning and
contingency.

What does it cost?
We often get asked why we charge what we do for our courier service so we thought it would be a good
idea to break down the costs we incur a little to explain.
We always keep our costs as low as possible and will contact you to reduce it if we book enough
people on our runs.
We try to maintain a good balance between the best possible service and the best possible price!
Annual costs:
Vehicle maintenance, servicing, tax, tyres, depreciation and MOT
Breakdown cover with roadside and recovery
Replacement vehicle insurance
Goods in Transit insurance to cover your items while in our care
Public liability insurance to cover us should we be in an accident
DEFRA vehicle inspection and licensing
Telephone and data connections
Per courier run:
Staff wages including planning time and driving
Fuel at the current staggering prices
Packaging and consumables
Overnight accomodation where appropriate

as a dedicated service was quoted at £472 on the 18th September 2011.
